Men In Black 3: Movie Review

Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones return with the Men In Black movies about a man who works for a secret organisation that deals with threats from outer space.

A guy goes back in time, and rewrites history, K (Jones) doesn’t exist because of this, so Jay (Smith) goes back in time to fix the history.

Great movie, I believe this to be one of Smith’s beat movies. Really funny.

Broadway

Yesterday (01/06/12) I went to see a broadway show.

Everyone has heard of broadway, the best theatre shows around.

Rock Of Ages is the show we chose to see. It is becoming a movie, but, we saw the broadway version.

This show was really funny, apart from the people behind us murdering every fucking song. It was getting annoying. The cast were fantastic, really were some of the best actors I’ve seen in a long time on the stage.

One or two, who shall remain nameless, may need to work on some of their accents, but, apart from that, fantastic.

Will update tomorrow.

Until next time

The States

Some of you may know that I am now in the United States of America. In the state of New York.

So, as a tourist in this fabulous state, we decided to go and see a sight on the first day. Which was yesterday (31/05/12). We walked down broadway, saw times square (pictures to follow later) and went up the Empire State Building.

It was tall. What amazed me, was not the view, but, something I already knew.

The people who built the building.

These people are incredibly brave. They would be building this building with no harnesses and just get on with it.

Can you imagine eating your lunch at the 102nd floor of any building, not harnessed, and no safety, with the danger of slipping and endlessly falling to your death with nothing to stop you?

I can’t. It seems too difficult to do.

So, today, I would like to wish Mrs Wolf all the best for her Art Exam today.

Until next time (aka, later on today NY time)

Volunteering

I started my first half shift at Barnardo’s charity store which opened up near me today. It was tiring, especially in the heat we have currently (what is with that, it’s Scotland, not the Bahamas).

It got me thinking (oh dear, I know, you could probably hear me from Australia), in times of the recession and all that crap, with jobs becoming harder to get, and Universities demanding higher entry levels because so many people want jobs, so schools are staying fuller for longer so they can get into University (it’s a never ending cycle, until everyone gets out the recission anyway)

Why don’t more people volunteer?

I mean, it’s good. Choose your own hours, ok, yeah, I understand, there’s no pay, but, it’ll make you more applicable to get a job and into University. If you apply to work in a shop, and I apply to work in a shop, I’ve got a charity as a reference and experience in a working enviroment over you, so in the long run, it’ll get me paid, if I stick with it for a few years. I’ll be getting paid before you because, yeah, I have experience.

My very good friend Mrs Wolf, asked about a job in Glasgow a few months ago, and she was turned down because they were looking for someone with experience. Now, if she had volunteered for a year or two, she would’ve had experience, and a good reference.

To me, it’s basic arithamtic

2+2=4

Volunteer +2 years= higher chance of being hired for a job.

There’s something to think about, charities need the help, you need the good reference. Plus, it makes you feel good.

Until next time

Football (Soccer)

I am a Tottenham Hotspur fan, for those of you who don’t know, Tottenham are an English Premier League team. Even though I am Glaswegian I support a London team. However, I go to a Glasgow based team. I currently have a season ticket for Glasgow Rangers. For any Celtic fans reading, or Arsenal for that matter, I am not in any way looking for any arguments with people. I don’t like arguing with people, especially people I don’t know. Anyway, the game I went to prior to this blog, was the Rangers vs. Hibernian. Hibernian (Hibs) are an Edinburgh based team. It finished Rangers 4-0 Hibs in the Scottish Premier League. And the Tottenham game prior to this was a Tottenham victory of 3-1 over Wigan in the Barclays Premier League. As I’m writing, I have thought of a few points I could try and get across to you.

1. Racism and football (soccer) are a bad combination.

2. Secterianism and football are also, a bad combination.

3. How the fuck do these footballers get paid so much money for running about, chasing a ball?

1. As far as I’m concerned there is no need for Racism at all, and step one for cutting it out, would be to cut it out of sports. Football is trying to take a stand with the “Show Racism The Red Card” stuff. However, they can hold up a piece of red paper all they want, doesn’t mean they’ll stop. For example: Luis Suarez and John Terry. People just need to calm down, and think before they speak. Just because your parents/grandparents did/do it, doesn’t mean you have to. To all the rascist people reading this, take a fucking look in the mirror (and hope it doesn’t crack, just kidding, but seriously though, take a look in the mirror), what is the difference between you, and the person you are racially abusing. The colour of skin? The religion? The colour of hair? Apart from these things, we are the same. Everyone has feelings, everyone can think, everyone can breathe, just because you are the majority in a country, doesn’t mean your better than anyone. In fact, if you are racially abusing someone, you should consider yourself lower than the person you are abusing. Everyone’s equal. Just because you are born in a certain country, doesn’t mean you are better than everyone that’s different in a country.

2. As a Glaswegian, some of you may know that there is a division of the city. Half of the city is Green, half is Blue. The Green half, is Celtic (who are associated with Catholics), the Blue half is Rangers (who are associated with Protestants). There may be many reasons to explain this divison, however, I won’t get in to that just now. Also, you may find that a large number of stabbings and killings are related to this division. Most of the people in this percentage were, either, wearing the red, white and blue of Rangers, OR, the green and white of Celtic. To most other cities, these are just colours and are not a cause for people to get killed. Killing someone over football, or the colour of clothes they wear is just ridiculous. The people who survive these attacks, go through emotional hell, and they may lose their jobs due to their injuries preventing them from lifting things or doing basic things that their jobs need them today. So, because someone went out to watch the football with their friends for a good time supporting their team, they are now unemployed and in the hospital. I hope all victims of these attacks, and the families of the victims can struggle on. This person was stabbed because they wanted to go out for a good time, and because, perhaps, they were wearing the wrong colour in the wrong neighbourhood.

3. Money. The root of all evil. I just have one, basic question for all you footballers. What the fuck makes you think that you should leave a team for the money, when you’re all getting paid far too much in the beginning. I just don’t see the point. You have no idea how many people would kill to be on £15k a week, it’s just unreal. Then, you have the other players, who are supposedly better players, and are on £50k+ a week. A fucking week! It’s just not right. The military. They get paid less and they have risks of their faces getting blown off, when footballers have the risk of breaking a bone. Doctors and Nurses. They save lives, but, yet, footballers get paid more. How many footballers do you think have saved a life. They don’t deserve the money and they shouldn’t be allowed to push their clubs for more money. It shouldn’t be such a high paid fucking sport!

Until next time

Waterloo Road

Today, I was on the set of BBC programme Waterloo Road. It was rather exciting. Up at 5:45am! There at 7:30am. Left the set at 7pm. It was a long day.

As an extra, life is tough. Your told when to move, and then when you move, you do nothing. I spent a lot of the day on my feet, standing looking smart, very difficult with my haircut. Also, trying not to laugh was a difficult task, when it seems all the extras are comedians. Couldn’t stop laughing throughout the whole day.

It was partly worth getting up so early, but, now, I just want my bed

It was a good experience, one I will cherish, and become tired at, forever.

Until next time.
